DIAMETER OF MARS
The diameter of Mars is 6,792 km. This makes the Red Planet about 53% of the diameter of Earth. Also, Mars has only 10% of Earth’s mass. Those are exciting information to know, but they only give a small picture of what Mars is like. Here are some more facts about Mars.
DISTANCE FROM THE SUN
Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. Its distance between it and the sun is approx. 227,940,000 km.
CLIMATE
Mars is much colder than Earth. One of the reasons that causes this cold weather is because Mars is much more further away from the sun than Earth. The average temperature of Mars is about negative 60 degrees C. Although, it can differ from negative 125 degrees C near the poles during the winter to 20 degrees C, which occurs at midday near the equator.
